St. David of Wales Episcopal Church is seeking a Building Curator, working for 15 hours a week. This position will manage building use for St. David of Wales facilities, along with maintaining relationships with our Building Partners. This position works closely with church staff and volunteers. The right candidate must be a great communicator, organized, and able to work independently.

St. David of Wales is an Episcopal church located in the Division/Hawthorne neighborhood of inner SE Portland.   • Manage communication with our community of building users (nonprofits, musicians, schools, 12-step programs, event planners, etc.).
  • Coordinate, document, and maintain the schedule for all users of the parish building, internal or external.
  • Inform the parish custodian of the best day and time for church cleaning each week and in preparation for church services and events.
  • Be available for on-site support for short-term building users, as needed.
  • Nurture healthy relationships with our building partners: check in with each building partner regularly and manage St. David’s response to their requests and needs.
  • Respond to building use inquiries both internal and external.
  • Know the building well enough to speak to its positive attributes.
  • Provide building walk-through tours for potential new building partners upon request.
  • Work with building partners and staff, vestry, or ministry teams to document and address their concerns with any building issues.
  • In partnership with the finance committee, negotiate new building use contracts with new building partners and negotiate renewed building use contracts, as well as one-time user agreements.
  • Track and document building partner invoices and payments and work with a bookkeeper to keep accounts current.
  • Partner with St. David’s vestry and finance committee to set and document rates for building partners and renters.
  • Coordinate with the parish administrator to maintain a web presence related to our building partner program.
  • Act as one of our first responders for all building partner-related emergencies.
  • Identify and recruit new partners for the parish as space allows.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and professional conduct at all times.
  • Develop and use effective, efficient and timely communication systems, including requests for assistance from administrative staff.


  • Communication abilities in writing, phone and in-person, and the ability to clearly and effectively communicate with many stakeholders both in and out of the building.
  • Solid ability to maintain positive relationships with a variety of people from different organizations.
  • Proficiency with Google Documents and online systems such as Google Drive.
  • Light bookkeeping experience or aptitude, with Quickbooks familiarity preferred.
  • General office skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
