Taizé Evensong

Evensong is a church service traditionally held near sunset focused on singing psalms and other biblical canticles. These Advent Evensongs will feature music from the Taizé Community, an ecumenical Christian monastic fraternity in Taizé, Saône-et-Loire, Burgundy, France. It is composed of more than one hundred brothers, from Catholic and Protestant traditions, who originate from about thirty countries around the world. One of the things the Taizé Community is known for is its meditative style of music. The simple yet poignant melodies and lyrics are easy to learn and sing. St. Gabriel offers these services as a chance to slow down the busy holiday season and allow yourself to experience the mystery of the birth of Christ.
