November 18 & 19; 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm each night
Prepare for a two-day extravaganza of some of the most beautiful and dramatic music ever written for the pipe organ! Renowned organist Scott Dettra comes to Trinity Cathedral as part of a nationwide concert tour to present the complete organ works of French composer César Franck (1822-1890).
Pillars of the organ repertoire, Franck’s pieces for organ represent the birth of the French symphonic style, showcasing the unique sonic and technical capabilities of the pipe organ – especially those built by the French builder Aristide Cavaillé-Coll in the 19th century. Modelled after these 19th century French organs, Trinity’s stunning Rosales Organ is an ideal instrument to showcase the power and thrill of this monumental repertoire as it was intended to be heard.
Praised as a “brilliant organist” (Dallas Morning News) and “outstanding musician” (The Diapason), Scott Dettra is acclaimed as one of America’s leading concert organists. Dettra, who was described as a “prodigy” by The New York Times at age 13, is world-renowned for the clarity, intensity, and elegance of his playing: “musicmaking of absolute authority and sophisticated expression,” according to The American Organist.
