St. James Santiago Episcopal Church is seeking a full-time Rector to lead our vibrant, socially conscious parish into its next chapter of ministry. Nestled in the scenic coastal community of Lincoln City, Oregon, we are a small but passionate congregation committed to worship, community service, and welcoming all into deeper relationship with God through Christ.
Who We Are
- A Worshiping Community: Our mission centers on the Eucharist, effective preaching, and joyful celebration of God’s goodness.
- Active in Outreach: From our long-standing Community Meal Program to bilingual services and support for 12-step programs, we prioritize serving those in need and embracing our diverse neighbors.
- Engaged in Education: We host the independent St. James Santiago School (K-8), provide opportunities for spiritual learning, and strive to build bridges between parishioners and students.
- Welcoming and Inclusive: We foster fast friendships, celebrate cultural diversity, and remain open to liturgical renewal that speaks to 21st-century life.
What We Seek in a Rector
- A preacher and worship leader who inspires us through well-prepared, scripture-based sermons and joyful Eucharistic celebrations.
- A compassionate pastor who nurtures community, providing pastoral care while equipping lay leaders to meet the needs of an aging congregation.
- A connector who builds bridges—strengthening ties with our Spanish-speaking members, new neighbors, and the wider Lincoln City community.
- A practical administrator capable of supporting our ministries, guiding outreach, and helping maintain our facilities and programs.
- An educator who shares knowledge of historical and contemporary Christianity and equips us with tools for spiritual growth and faith-filled living.
- A reconciler committed to fostering unity and addressing conflict constructively.
Our Opportunities
- Welcoming new residents of a recently opened workforce housing development next door.
- Strengthening partnerships with the thriving St. James Santiago School and expanding our Community Meal Program.
- Supporting ongoing initiatives, including Misa services, 12-step groups, and creative liturgical and educational offerings.
Compensation and Benefits
The position offers a full-time compensation package in accordance with the Diocese of Oregon guidelines for a church of our size. Our endowment provides financial stability, despite recent deficit budgets.
