Safe Church, Safe Communities

As of April 2024 our Diocese posted the updated Policy for the Protection of Children and Youth (Política de Protección de la Niñez y la Juventud) and Policy for the Protection of Vulnerable Adults (Política de Protección de Adultos Vulnerables). These are required readings, even if you are current on your Safe Church training.

The Episcopal Church rolled out a new curriculum in 2022, which is now called Safe Church, Safe Communities. All 9 modules have been published. In order to be consistent with the policies of The Episcopal Church, Safe Church training now needs to be renewed every three years. Praesidium, the platform that hosts the Safe Church training, recommends renewing every year and will automatically send notices for renewal. Those notices can be ignored until your 3-year renewal is due.

Safe Church Self-Audit

Beginning in 2025, each congregation is required to complete the Safe Church Self-Audit. This brief form should take only a short time to complete.

This self-audit is mandated by The Episcopal Church as part of our diocesan Safe Church Audit, which will occur every three years starting in 2026. The audit helps ensure that we are upholding our commitment to creating safe church environments and following best practices for Safe Church policies.

For questions about the Self-Audit, please contact Canon Derek Moyer at dmoyer@ecwo.org.
