Dear Friends in Christ,
I am delighted to share that I will continue serving on the diocesan staff alongside Bishop Akiyama and the two new Missioners, the Rev. Chris Craun and Derek Moyer, this year. My new title, Interim Missioner for Special Projects, reflects the new focused role of coordinating specific projects in our diocese as well as supporting a smooth transfer of leadership for the variety of ministries I have been coordinating for the last few years. The image I’ve been using to describe my new role is “passing the baton,” like runners in a relay race. Chris is already up and running with Diocesan Consultants and Congregational Vitality efforts. Derek is ready to receive the Christian Formation baton this week. Over the next few weeks, I will hand more areas of ministry over.
I am deeply grateful for continuing to serve our diocese in a refocused capacity. I am looking forward to my part-time role, so I can invest more time in my personal health and wellbeing. As you all know, the last few years have been challenging. I’m seeing 2022 as a year to reset, re-imagine, and renew.

Dear Friends in Christ,
Thank you, Carol! One of the many passions and blessings of the Rev. Carol Sedlacek’s call to ordained ministry is her work with youth and camp ministry. I learned this soon after my arrival when I noted the bounce in her step and the light in her eyes whenever she talked about the diocesan youth and camping ministries of this diocese. Many of you also know that Carol loves designing liturgies for worship, and she has a gift for selecting music that can be sung acapella or with simple accompaniment. It doesn’t hurt that she has a beautiful singing voice. These are but two examples of the many ways in which Carol has served this diocese faithfully, passionately, tenderly, and in good humor.
I am deeply grateful for Carol’s grace and confidence in assisting me during the transitions in our office. Her insight, institutional memory, experience, and tactfulness have been essential as she has provided insight to the customs and practices of our community. As we continue to move from strength to strength in our common work, it is reassuring and heartening to know that Carol will be walking with us on the journey.

Estoy encantada de compartir con uds. que, continuaré sirviendo en el personal diocesano este año, junto con la Obispa Akiyama y los dos nuevos misioneros, la Rvda. Chris Craun y el Sr. Derek Moyer. Mi nuevo título, Misionera Interina para Proyectos Especiales, refleja el nuevo papel enfocado para coordinar proyectos específicos en nuestra diócesis, así como para apoyar al cambio de liderazgo sin problemas para la variedad de ministerios que he estado coordinando durante los últimos años. La imagen que he estado usando para describir mi nuevo rol es “pasar el bastón”, como corredores en una carrera de relevos. Chris ya está funcionando y trabajando con los Consultantes Diocesanos y Vitalidad Congregacional. Derek está listo para recibir la batuta de Formación Cristiana esta semana. Durante las próximas semanas, entregaré más áreas de ministerio.
Estoy profundamente agradecida por continuar sirviendo a nuestra diócesis en esta capacidad con un nuevo enfoque. Espero con ansias mi papel de medio tiempo, para poder invertir más tiempo en mi salud y bienestar personal. Como todos saben, los últimos años han sido desafiantes. Veo el 2022 como un año para reiniciar, re-imaginar y renovar.

¡Gracias, Carol! Una de las muchas pasiones y bendiciones de su llamado al ministerio ordenado de la Rev. Carol Sedlacek es trabajo en el ministerio con jóvenes y el campamento. Descubrí esto un poco después de mi llegada, cuando noté el vigor en su paso y la luz en sus ojos cada vez que hablaba sobre los ministerios diocesanos de jóvenes y el campamentos de esta diócesis. Muchos de ustedes también saben que a Carol le encanta diseñar liturgias para el culto, y tiene un don para seleccionar música que se puede cantar acapella o con acompañamiento simple.
